Through the eyes of our employee Mirek

We care about the satisfaction of our employees and we believe that it comes back to us. Because many of our employees have been with us for more than 10 or even 20 years! Mirek, the head of the programming team, told us about this in an interview published in the Mladá fronta DNES supplement on 24 February 2023. Read the full interview below.

HALF YOUR LIFE IN ONE COMPANY?  NOTHING SPECIAL ABOUT GENIUSES!

Treating employees like family members. This has been the motto of the Zlín-based engineering company GENICZECH-M for 30 years. And it seems to be bearing fruit. A number of employees have been working here for more than 10 or even 20 years, which the company management appreciates immensely.

An example is Miroslav Zatloukal, the head of the programming team, who has spent almost half of his life in GENICZECH-M. In an interview, he told us what has kept him in the company, which deals with custom manufacturing of machined parts and assembly, for so long.

What were your beginnings in the company?

My first work experience was during my studies at the Integrated Technical High School in Zlín (now SPŠP Zlín), when I completed my internship there. To my surprise, I was able to participate in the processing of real orders right after my training. When I was offered a job contract after graduation, I was very happy to take up the position of operator of a 3-axis CNC milling centre. After perfecting my skills, I moved on to operating 5-axis machines and started machining more complex parts.

Within a year, you've worked your way up to team leader of the programming team. How do you evaluate your career growth?

Several factors have played a role in my growth. In particular, my experience with manual operation of individual machines has helped me significantly in my programming activities. My desire to continuously improve and streamline production processes, as well as my knowledge and skills, also contributed greatly. Thanks to the fact that the company invests considerable resources not only in innovations and the purchase of state-of-the-art machine tools, but also in the training of its employees, I have participated and continue to participate in a number of domestic and foreign training events.

GENICZECH-M also supports young machinists. How can students cooperate with the company?

We offer internships or work placements to engineering students. We provide merit scholarships for the skilled ones. Those interested can earn a decent income in the form of part-time jobs. We cooperate with university students on their bachelor's or master's theses.

What vacancies do you have?

Like other engineering companies, we are also facing a shortage of labour in the blue-collar professions. We are constantly looking for experienced workers to operate 5-axis CNC machining centers and also for candidates without experience to operate 3-axis CNC milling machines.

What would you say to those interested in working at GENICZECH-M?

If you are a technical type and want to work for a successful engineering company in Zlín, which supplies its machined parts all over the world, join us and experience our friendly working atmosphere. Everyone can find a job here. Both trained machinist and a person who is not familiar with this field. We will support and teach everyone as much as possible. As well as, for example, my colleague Magda, who came to us as a trained beautician without any experience in the world of machining, and now belongs to our significant support in milling on a 3-axis CNC machine.

What company benefits does the company offer?

There are a number of benefits - e.g. a 500 CZK contribution to life insurance or pension insurance, 1,000 CZK for a children's camp for each child, food vouchers worth 180 CZK. In connection with the increase in energy and food prices this year, each employee will receive an extraordinary allowance of CZK 6,000. We also receive various types of rewards and bonuses for work performance, which is useful for Christmas or holidays, for example. Individually, the company makes donations for sports or cultural activities. We have 4 extra paid days off, called sick days. During the year, the company organizes several team-building events and company-wide meetings. I personally like events such as go-karting, paintball, ping pong, bowling or a joint bike trip.

This year the company celebrates 30 years since its foundation. How do you evaluate the company's development?

The company has made tremendous strides in the time I have been working here. We are following developments in the world of technology, state-of-the-art machining, currently supported by company-wide digitalization. It has built good relationships with its stable customers, which gives us confidence in future orders despite uncertain times.

What is the reason that you have stayed with GENICZECH-M for so many years?

I have come across this question many times. But the answer is simple - it is satisfaction. For seventeen years at GENICZECH-M, I have been creating new technologies, conquering new challenges, inventing new clamping methods and new machining possibilities, there is always something new, unexpected - and I really enjoy that. In addition, I appreciate the very friendly and team-oriented environment here.
