This year's Tech Fair, which we regularly attend, was a great success! During the three excursions we were visited by 41 pupils from eighth and ninth grades from the elementary schools in Zlín - Dřevnická Elementary School, Slovenská Elementary School and Malenovice Elementary School.
We first introduced the students to our company and then we went to the production, where many surprises awaited the students.
The students got a glimpse of CNC machines and learned the basics of machining and turning. We showed them what a technical drawing looks like and that what is on paper can actually be smaller than our pinky finger or bigger than ourselves.
We stopped to inspect parts, where we used hairline thickness measurements to illustrate the precision with which we work in manufacturing.
We continued on to our next station, where a competition for a Netflix gift voucher awaited the pupils. Pupils guessed how long it would take us to produce a certain part on the lathe from raw material. And the guesses were really close!
We then moved on to the assembly department, where another activity awaited the pupils. We tried our hand with a screwdriver and they did very well.
The icing on the cake belonged to our state-of-the-art CNC machines, where the pupils could admire our more complex production and large parts weighing over 300 kg.
All three excursions were very successful, we thank the Regional Chamber of Commerce of the Zlín Region for allowing us to participate in this project again and contribute to the engineering education in the Zlín Region.
Thank you very much to all the pupils for their visit and we will look forward to the next time!
PS: Thank you to the pupils for their kind words in the feedback questionnaires. For example, Anička wrote to us: "I am delighted with the nice people who work here - you don't see that much these days."
